How to Make a Coffee Protein Shake

One of the most popular articles I’ve ever written was actually a recipe for a coffee protein shake. I came up with the idea years ago, back when I was in college and was trying to have more nutritional meals but still leaned towards foods that were easily digestible and easy to travel with. Coffee remains one of my favorite things but it’s not a meal. Or at least, it shouldn’t be. I developed this recipe to blend two worlds together- the comfort and caffeine jolt provided by some java and the nutritional powerhouse of the protein shake.

1 cup of coffee of choice fixed how you like

1 banana

1 scoop of vanilla protein powder

nut milk

*optional: additional supplements




After fixing coffee to your liking, add to blender along with the other ingredients.

Blend until smooth.
